Last Thursday, Museu do Douro received another edition of the “Tourism & Culture: Cities 2.0” workshop series, this time dedicated to the Douro region.
Paulo Vaz, from Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Douro-Lamego, made the kick-off, by presenting the themes and the speakers that were about to explore them.
Manuel Marques addressed the use of new technologies as a way to enhance Douro Azul’s business, by presenting concrete examples of its concerted strategy. One claim that stood out was that “traveling begins and ends as an online experience”.
Next, Natália Fauvrelle explained the scope and impact of Museu do Douro in the region, referring some examples of its activities and connections.
After that, Pedro Fernandes talked about several trends in Tourism and Culture, such as the exponential growth of mobile apps, the increasing relevance of contents, and the importance of creating interactive experiences that last in the tourists’ minds. Then, Pedro presented some examples of spaces and solutions that embody this innovative paradigm, like the Museu de Tondela, Centro de Educação Ambiental de Esposende, and the forthcoming Alentejo’s interactive tables.
Finally, Paulo Vaz summarized the conclusions of speakers’ presentations, and conducted a debate in which people shared perspectives about the present and future of Douro region.
To close this event, organized by EDIGMA in association with Museu do Douro, Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Douro-Lamego, Idtour and Douro Alliance, everyone was invited to enjoy a coffee break, while experiencing the interactive products in exhibition (DISPLAX Oqtopus, DISPLAX Oxys and DISPLAX Window Glass).
