Touch Workshop User Experience & Design 2.0 highlights

On June 20, Touch Workshop USER EXPERIENCE & DESIGN 2.0 brought together more than 90 guests, at Palácio Quintela.
With renowned speakers such as Leonel Moura and Carlos Coelho, this was an event where usability and creativity were keywords.

Last Wednesday, Palácio Quintela was the "Mecca" of usability in Portugal, as this beautiful space hosted Touch Workshop USER EXPERIENCE & DESIGN 2.0, the fourth session of Touch Workshops 2012 series.

After Ana Mesquita having presented, with the humor and audacity that characterize her, the speakers and program of this event, Leonel Moura (Robotarium) "deconstructed" the concept of usability, giving examples of its application. Made the framework to the concept, the artist left several revolutionary ideas for the future of Education, such as stronger interactivity between students of different ages and a greater proximity between the various areas of knowledge.

When the presentation of Leonel Moura was over, Carlos Coelho (Ivity Brand Corp) "came into play" with his pretty unique irreverence and brilliance. Beginning by explaining the evolution of brands in the last 100 years, he noted that brands have functional, aesthetical, emotional and social dimensions. To sum it up, Carlos Coelho stated that "creating a brand is telling a story that seduces and continues the next day."

Then, Pedro Teotónio (MUDE - Museu do Design e da Moda) argues that the museum object is an unlimited source of information. “Tesouros da Feira da Ladra” exhibition, which can be visited until September 30, at MUDE, paradigmatically attests his argument.

Taking Bill Buxton’s statement "the most important technology to understand is the human" as a motto, Miguel Oliveira (EDIGMA) explored the relevance of interactive solutions for the creation of "natural user experiences", illustrating his idea with sensorial and experiential projects like Optimus Concept Store, Lisbon Airport, Porto Cruz, among others.

Finally, after a discussion on the themes addressed, came the moment to participants interact with DISPLAX Oqtopus. The experimentation of this collaborative and intuitive multitouch table was, without any doubt, the perfect climax for this session, as it allowed a direct contact with a solution in which usability is raised to its highest exponent!
